Portland Oregon Craft Mafia

I am a proud new member of the Portland Oregon chapter of the national Craft Mafia! Oh yeah. You might ask, what does this mean? Honestly only time will tell, but I am excited for the sheer potential! I've never been in the mafia before.

I've been made :)

In September there is going to be an exhibition at the Secret Society Ballroom - consider yourself invited!

Virtual Tour of My Booth

This is my booth at the Portland Saturday Market. I took a bunch of videos today, mostly of the musicians down there around the fountain... and then I thought it'd be fun to share a sort of virtual tour of my booth!

Enjoy!

my Etsy packaging for shipping

This little video shows how I package my little mobiles for Etsy orders. I like to include some little freebies, much including an orange LeahGlass pencil and a glass ladybug, oh an Etsy sticker and a little story about how I make the little mobiles.

I wrap all this up in a piece of paper (the paper comes from the packaging my glass materials come in) and slide it all in a USPS Priority mail box. I order the boxes in bulk and then I stamp them with my LeahGlass rubber stamp.

Buy one for yourself and you can see all the freebies and whatnot in person :)

Amanda did the amazing dolphin illustrations on the glass, I made the mobile. I like how the mobile performed so well in this little video - you can see a number of the dolphins dancing about.

Fresh Fruit

Let me rave about a wonderful Etsy purchase that I received yesturday. This beautiful fruit colander is made by Lisa of BaileyBowls.etsy

The colander is smallish - rather than for straining pasta, this is perfect for rinsing and straining a pint of fresh berries. Then there is a little matching plate for it to sit on so it doesn't drip water everywhere. I love it. Its perfect.

Yesturday I went out to some farms with Tim. We found these cherry trees that were spilling over in ripe cherries. What a site! Tim climbed up a ladder and filled a whole box with perfect cherries in a matter of minutes. I wandered the farm a little bit and took a look at the magical trees. They were just so big and full of cherries! It was so lovely and relaxing sitting on the ladders and picking cherries. It was shaded and there was a breeze. Man oh man, picking raspberries and strawberries is killer on the ankles stooping down and the sun is so hot and sweaty for a pale skinned girl like me. So this cherry picking is amazing!I am going back later this week for Etsy Tea Time and picking more cherries. We made jam out of everything that we didn't eat. :) So now I need more!

Aimee made these beautiful fish by the way! In fact, everyone that took the class last week made really beautiful fish - and everyone had survivors! Yeah!!! That makes me so happy.

New Glass Necklaces

Okay I finally got these precious puddles listed in my Etsy shop. I have been keeping these treasures here in my grasp - I thought it was due time that I listed them in my Etsy shop. Deliciousness.

These necklaces are a colaboration between myself and the amazingly talented Judi of CurlyGirl Jewelry

Chakra Circles

Okay, this picture is really pretty terrible... but its all I've got at the moment.

Anyone that knows me, or sees me in the Aquila Glass Studio all the time, knows that I am forever cutting circles. One of the many things that I do with these circular glass puddles is make these straight hanging suncatchers - I call them my "Chakra Circles". I want to put them up in my Etsy shop and website for sale - but I don't have any good pictures of them. I need to take the time to get creative with them and take some good pictures. Most of my mobiles are more asymmetrical, so it makes a nice compliment, the lengthwise hanging of the glass... all the discs spin freely and it catches the light really well. I can do them in any particular colors, this particular 7 circle arrangement is symbolic of the Chakras. My mother is a healer and she has taught me a bit about this, so the mobile is inspired by her. Heres a link for her website: http://marypellegrini.com/

Organics Produce Home Delivery

Yesturday I received my first ever box of produce delivered to my door by Organics to You.

The picture doesn't really do it justice, I got the least expensive box (I'm cheap and my eyes are usually bigger than my stomach, so I thought this would be a good place to start) and it was full of all sorts of goodness. I started putting things away in the kitchen before I stopped to take a picture!

Heres what I got: 2 Nectarines, 3 Black Plums, 2 Peaches, 1lb. Red Grapes, 1 head of Lettuce, 1 bunch Chard, 1 bunch of Celery, 2 white Corn, 1 bunch Cilantro, 1 Onion, 1 bunch Green Onions, 1lb. Red Potatoes, 1lb. Zucchini and a whole bunch of sugar snap peas!

All of this delivered to my door (delivery included in the price of the produce) for $27.

I love all the local organic farming around Portland and the farmers market is one of my favorite destinations... but honestly - I really don't have the time very often to go. For years I have meant to sign up for Organics to You, and now I have - and its making me smile for ear to ear.

I am cooking at home tonight!!

P.S. If you would like to sign up too - use me as a reference :) I get a bonus box of produce I think!!
